65th OIAC General Assembly: Cameroon elected to the presidency for 2025–2026

The 65th General Assembly of the Inter-African Coffee Organisation (OIAC), held in Bujumbura, Burundi, concluded with significant progress for the African coffee sector, highlighting Cameroon’s growing strategic role.

The high-level session, chaired by Dr Hassan Kibeya, Minister of Mineral Resources, Energy, Industry, Trade and Tourism of Burundi, brought together delegates from OIAC Member States to assess progress achieved, adopt sectoral strategies, and define a forward-looking vision for Africa’s coffee industry.

A key outcome of the Assembly was the election of Cameroon, represented by the Minister of Trade, Mr. Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, to the presidency of the OIAC for the 2025–2026 term. This mandate will culminate in the hosting of the 66th OIAC General Assembly in Yaoundé next year.

Representing the Minister of Trade, Mr. Michael Ndoping, Director General of the National Cocoa and Coffee Board (ONCC), delivered a message of confidence and commitment. He recalled that Cameroon, a founding member of the OIAC and host of the November 2016 General Assembly, fully understands the requirements and prestige associated with organizing such a major continental event.

Mr. Ndoping reaffirmed Cameroon’s commitment to supporting the OIAC Secretary General and his team in the full implementation of the 2025–2026 work plan. He emphasized Cameroon’s determination to work closely with all partners to enhance the Organization’s impact and visibility on the global coffee stage, and warmly invited all delegates to Yaoundé for a strategic and memorable Assembly.
